Chase in Escambia County ends with arrest, drugs and a baby in the car

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office released new details Monday evening about a high-speed chase and subsequent arrest that took place Saturday.

The incident began when officers responded to a report of shots fired in a residential area, officials said.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers responded to reports that a woman fired several shots and then fled the scene in a black SUV.

Deputies stated that a PIT maneuver was used to stop the vehicle after the driver refused to stop.

As officers approached the SUV, the driver, a person named Alexia Goble, told them her two-month-old baby was in the car and handed the child over to them, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

A search of the SUV revealed:

  • An assault rifle with 9mm ammunition
  • A plastic bag containing 7.1 grams of fentanyl
  • 159.5 grams of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia

Officials said the baby, Goble and a passenger identified as Mel’trez Coley were uninjured in the incident but were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

According to MPs, the Ministry of Children and Families was notified and rushed to the hospital.

Officials said a criminal record check revealed that Goble had been convicted three times for driving without a license and was currently on probation.

According to deputies, Coley was convicted of robbery with a deadly weapon in November 2021.

After their medical examination, both Goble and Coley were arrested and charged with, among other things, fleeing and eluding, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, trafficking in dangerous drugs and child abuse, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
