Daniel Alameda’s “My Guys” for Fantasy Football 2024

Daniel Alameda’s “My Guys” for Fantasy Football 2024

Yes, he is drafted as a top 15 receiver, but I really believe that he Top 5 WR Potential. I watched Drake play basketball in high school, then he transferred to USC, and now in Atlanta he is still one of the best athletes in the world. He has no real competition as a receiver for the targets he is targeting, and with Zac Robinson as the offensive coordinator, it’s no surprise if he gets into the top 5 discussion.

#2 Arizona Cardinals WR Greg Dortch

Everyone wants to talk about Marvin Harrison Jr., and rightfully so, but the guy I have my eye on is someone who almost got cut last offseason. Dortch is one of the most explosive receivers in the NFL despite being under 5’10”. Despite catching just one pass in the first 10 weeks of the season, he played in over 65% of the weekly snaps from Weeks 11-18.

Dortch will build on his great connection with Kyler Murray and he is truly one of the most explosive players with the ball in his hands. Expect big plays from him so tell your friends about him before he breaks out.

#3 Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner

He’s one of those players that people don’t pay attention to, and when he plays well, you think, “Oh yeah, that makes total sense.” Don’t make that mistake this season, because Conner will be a workhorse who could sneak into the top five running backs, especially in a contract season.

He managed 100 scrimmage yards in his last 5 games of the 2023 season, and I have no doubts about his performance this season, as they drafted a rookie in Trey Benson who has disappointed so far. The only downside is the bottom O-line, but Conner will make the NFL sit up and take notice this year.

#4 Bengals TE Mike Gesicki & Ravens TE Isaiah likely

Two for one here. Gesicki is a name people forget, but we don’t. He was an elite talent out of Penn State, but then didn’t fit in the Dolphins’ new system and couldn’t handle the Patriots’ confusion last season.

Gesicki now has the best quarterback of his career, and while he may not be an elite fantasy player, as a true NFL fan you will hear about him now before he has his breakthrough.

Likely is one of my favorite tight ends, and even with Andrews returning, Likely is the epitome of the new era receiving tight end. He can really break out this year.

#6 Cincinnati Bengals WR Jermaine Burton

Burton was drafted in the third round, but will go down as one of the top five receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft. He may be overshadowed by Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, but Burton is a surefire star at the NFL level and I immediately predict him to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in his second NFL season. If Tee Higgins or Ja’Marr get injured, Burton will step in and potentially be a league-winning player.

#7 New England Patriots WR Demario Douglas

Douglas is a name that Patriots fans in particular know, and while he isn’t in a great fantasy situation, his talent will rise to the top unchallenged. He is such an explosive playmaker and is easily the Patriots’ most agile receiver. Players like Douglas simply need a better QB to showcase their elite talent, and I have no doubt if Drake Maye succeeds, the world will really see Douglas’ elite talent.

Turn on his highlight tape from 2024 and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

OVERRATED:

Miami Dolphins RB Dev’on Achane

Yes, this is not an “OVERRATED” article, but I had to mention it. Achane is super explosive and an incredible weapon, but people fall into the same trap as the 49ers. The Dolphins have an incredible system, and it really is a plus and a game of quick, explosive, one-cut RBs. There’s a reason every 49ers RB averages five yards per carry. Expect explosive plays from Achane, but the Dolphins aren’t going to use him as a workhorse, especially with Mostert and explosive rookie Jaylen Wright on the roster.
