Heat and storms return on Labor Day weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – Good morning!

FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAYS FROM TODAY: We have explained Weather days of the first warning for near-record-breaking heat through Friday. The air will remain dry over Alabama on Tuesday, but as humidity increases on Wednesday and Thursday, there is a chance of highs of 100º both days.

THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Tuesday morning begins mild with temperatures around 15 degrees.

Highs will reach nearly 97º in Birmingham this afternoon and could reach 99º in Tuscaloosa. Skies will remain mostly sunny. The weather will remain calm overnight.

RECORDS FOR WEDNESDAY: Record highs are 103º in Birmingham, 105º in Tuscaloosa and 101º in Anniston. We probably won’t set any records on Wednesday, but Thursday will be closer, especially in Anniston. Records for the day are 101º in Birmingham, 99º in Anniston and 107º in Tuscaloosa. Models indicate we could see a scattered shower on Wednesday, mostly along and south of Highway 80.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK: As the high pressure area weakens, there will again be isolated showers and thunderstorms during the holidays.
