Salida teacher dies during investigation into sexual misconduct with former student

SALIDA, Colorado (KKTV) – A Colorado high school teacher and college professor who was being investigated for sexual misconduct died suddenly over the weekend.

Anderson Horne, who taught at both Salida High School and Colorado Mountain College, faced allegations involving a former student. According to local newspaper The Mountain Mail, the investigation began in early August and was handled by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office because the alleged crime occurred there.

At the time of Horne’s death on Saturday, no official charges had been filed.

According to a joint press release from the Salida School District and Salida Police Department obtained by the newspaper, the district was not told who was being investigated and for what reason until after Horne’s death.

The cause of the teacher’s death was not disclosed.
