Toy Story: Quentin Tarantino reveals why he has “no desire” to watch the fourth part

Quentin Tarantino has revealed why he refuses to watch Toy history 4.

The fourth installment in the Disney-Pixar series was released in 2019 and follows Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who embark on a road trip with six-year-old Bonnie and are reunited with Bo Peep, played by Young Sheldon with Annie Potts as the star.

At the time of release, critics praised Toy Story 4 as “delightful” and “straight from the heart”, but Tarantino has expressed disinterest in the sequel – claiming that Toy Story 3 was presented as the definitive conclusion to the series.

In conversation with Bill Maher in his podcast Club RandomTarantino said: “I don’t watch all the cartoons and stuff, but I’m a big fan of the Toy history Trilogy.”

He continued: “I think there is only one trilogy that works absolutely and completely, and that is A handful of dollars for a few dollars more And The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”

The Reservoir Dogs The director said the 1960s film series, which starred Clint Eastwood and defined the Spaghetti Western genre, was successful because it benefited from the “single director vision” of Italian filmmaker Sergio Leone.

“It does what no other trilogy has ever done,” Tarantino told Maher. “The first film is great, but the second film is so great and takes the whole idea to such a much bigger canvas that it eclipses the first.”

“And then the third one does the same thing to the second one, and that never really happens. You see this big jump from the first one to the second one, and they don’t really land the third one.”

If we relate this to Toy historyTarantino said that the Disney series achieved a similar level of coherence – but he did not want to watch the fourth part.

“In the case of Toy historythe third one is just great,” he said. “It’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, it’s just amazing.”

“But the thing is, then three years later or so they made a fourth one, and I don’t feel like seeing it,” said the pulp Fiction Filmmaker added.

“You literally finished the story as perfectly as you could, so no, I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done.”

After Toy Story 4 grossed over $1 billion at the box office, Disney CEO Bob Iger gave the green light for a fifth film, which is currently in development.

While a release date for Toy Story 5 has not yet been announced, but it seems likely that the film will be released when the first film celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025.

Tom Hanks is expected to reprise Woody’s voice.
