Alix Earle, girlfriend of Dolphins’ Braxton Berrios, speaks out against the use of racist slurs in controversial, resurfaced videos

Alix Earle, the popular TikToker, broke her silence on a controversy that arose from her past. Recently, screenshots of her ASKfm account from 2014 resurfaced, showing her using a racial slur as early as age 13.

On August 26, Earle publicly addressed the issue on social media. She sincerely apologized and took full responsibility for her actions. She stressed that her young age does not excuse her behavior and made it clear that she deeply regrets using the slur.

In her Instagram post, Earle acknowledged her mistake, stating: “I take responsibility and want to make it clear that I was 13 years old and did not understand the deeply offensive meaning of that word.”

“It is not an excuse to use that word in any context or at any age,” she wrote. Earle wanted to reassure her followers that the language she has used in the past does not reflect who she is today. “I want my fans to know that is not the way I speak or what I stand for,” she stressed.

Earle expressed sincere remorse for the pain and offense her words have caused in the past, saying, “I am deeply sorry that my words have hurt many and made people believe I had bias in my heart. I promise you that couldn’t be further from the truth.” She reiterated her commitment to using her platform to promote positivity and support for others. “My platform has always focused on positivity, entertainment and uplifting others and will continue to do so. I am sincerely sorry to those I have offended,” she added.

Reflecting on her reaction to the controversy, Earle admitted she regretted not addressing the situation sooner. She explained that she was initially hesitant to speak out, influenced by others who advised her to remain silent. “For too long, I allowed too many people to stop me from speaking out,” she revealed.

Earle also clarified that the claims that she tried to trademark her old posts or that a brand decided to stop working with her were not true. “The rumors that I tried to trademark my old posts or that an unnamed brand announced they would no longer work with me are not true as I have never spoken to them,” she explained.

Earle ended her statement by reiterating her commitment to honesty and transparency with her followers. “Regardless of what is said online,” she wrote, “I wanted to come here to state the facts and most importantly, apologize.”

The rise of the Alux Earle controversy

The controversy began when screenshots of Earle’s offensive comments were shared on the Alix Earle Snark page on Reddit in 2023. The posts quickly gained attention on TikTok and other subreddits, including one linked to the podcast “Do We Know Them?”

Podcast hosts Jessi Smiles and Lily Marston discussed the screenshots and the rumor about Earle, particularly the attempt to trademark the posts, on their August 12 episode. According to Jessi, Earle’s lawyers contacted her claiming the screenshots violated copyright law.

However, the moderators had no direct connection to the subreddit where the images were originally shared. “Their lawyer contacted us and said we violated their copyright,” Jessi said, adding that people had posted screenshots of the lawyer’s message on her subreddit.

Although Earle denied the trademark rumors, the podcast hosts joked that it was “a creative tactic.” Despite the humor, Earle’s statement was meant to dispel any misinformation and address the controversy head-on with a sincere apology.
