A police department in Nashville, Tennessee, released dramatic video of an officer arresting a fugitive wanted for murder who had been on the run for over a year in connection with a crime in August 2021.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said 30-year-old Tyrone Walker is wanted in the murder of 39-year-old Cecil Holmes Jr.

Walker was charged with first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm in April 2023, and investigators have been working to find him since the indictment.

Earlier this month, investigators learned that Walker was driving a gold SUV in the Edgehill area.

From a helicopter equipped with night vision goggles, police were able to locate Walker and monitor the situation while officers on the ground laid a spike strip near the exit of a residential area.

Police posted the video clip of the operation on social media, showing the vehicle driving through a residential area. As the vehicle reached the exit ramp, a person, later identified as Walker, was seen getting out of the SUV and running away.

As Walker fled the scene, an officer pursued him around a row of buildings. When the officer was within striking distance, he lunged at Walker and subdued him.

According to police, Walker threw a gun with an empty magazine on the ground before he was arrested.

Walker’s case was ultimately processed and arrested, and a judge ordered him to remain in custody without bail pending a hearing.

Walker has a number of previous convictions, including aggravated burglary, theft and cocaine possession.
