Difficult start, strong second half |

SK Root clearly wins the derby against FC Dietwil with 6:2. After a cautious and error-filled first half, the home team clearly improves and leaves the guests no chance.

pd. Wurzel. You can hardly start a game worse. After just 58 seconds the ball was in the Root net. Rohmann had broken away well and gave goalie Dave Meier no chance to defend from 16 meters. In general, the first quarter of an hour clearly belonged to the guests. The rebellious Dietelers provoked various defensive errors from Root, but were unable to capitalize. Only then did Root become a little more determined and scored a somewhat surprising equalizer through Nico Bühler, who was able to go alone on FCD goalie Marchon. Shortly before the break the guests, who clearly had their strengths in attack, struck a second time. A pass to the right corner of the penalty area, where the unmarked Kuchling scored with a powerful shot into the bottom corner to make it 1:2.

During the break, Root coach Pascal Christen reacted to his team’s modest performance so far and made four changes. It paid off. Root was now hardly under pressure at the back and inevitably had opportunities up front. After an hour, Claudio Strebel converted a pass (or was it a failed finish?) from Janik Schmalstieg to equalize at 2:2. Just three minutes later, the player put his team in the lead for the first time by successfully following up and defending the indecisive Dietwil defense. The guests had no answer to the double strike after 73 minutes – 4:2 by defender Roli Schnider and 5:2 by Ben Meierhans (with the goal of the day). Shortly before the end, Jan Bucheli scored the last goal after having previously missed a foul penalty. Next Saturday (6 p.m.) Root will travel to bottom-placed Brunnen, who have no points.
