IHSAA football rankings reshuffled in second week Indiana poll after surprises

One week of Indiana high school football is over and we already have two new No. 1 teams in the USA TODAY Network’s latest Indiana high school football poll, which was arrived at by a vote of media members from across the state.

Westfield jumped three spots to No. 1 in Class 6A thanks to its season-opening 34-28 win over Center Grove, which was previously ranked No. 3. Defending state champion Ben Davis dropped from No. 1 to No. 8 after falling to Cathedral 24-6. In Class 5A, Merrillville rose from No. 2 to No. 1 after its 27-0 win over Andrean. Decatur Central dropped from No. 1 to No. 6 after its 41-15 loss to 6A Columbus North.
