Harris and Trump argue over muted microphones at upcoming debate

The campaign teams of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are arguing ahead of their high-profile debate on September 10 over whether microphones should be muted, except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak.

While it’s common for campaign teams to argue in advance about how to approach debates, both Harris and Trump are under pressure to deliver a strong performance in Philadelphia next month, the first debate of this campaign that resulted in President Joe Biden’s exit from the race.
