Osaka vs Ostapenko!!!!

It will be a battle of former major champions in one of the most eagerly awaited opening duels of this year’s US Open. The two-time champion Naomi Osaka came close to pulling off a surprise victory at Roland-Garros when she earned a match point against eventual champion Iga Swiatek in Paris earlier this spring. She was unable to win the match, but Osaka will be looking to score a big victory against the No. 10 seed. Elena Ostapenko It was their second career meeting and the first since 2016 (Osaka’s victory).

Osaka is ranked 85th and has a 22-5 record at the US Open, most recently winning the title in 2020 in Flushing. Ostapenko defeated top-seeded Swiatek en route to the quarterfinals last year.

Sinner and Alcaraz on Ashe

There will be a treasure trove of action at Arthur Ashe Stadium tomorrow, and if you’re interested in the future of men’s tennis, you’ll have your pick.

We have Jannik Sinner in the day’s session on Arthur Ashe as the Italian looks to focus on his tennis with a first-round match against American Mackenzie McDonald. It will likely be a relief for the world number one and top seed to play some tennis after dealing with the media over the past few days. Last week, all anyone was talking about was the news of Sinner’s two positive doping tests, his provisional suspensions and details of the case in which he avoided a suspension and received only a minimal penalty.

Sinner, who has never made it past the quarterfinals, has an overall record of 10-5 at the Open.

If you are craving night tennis, check out number 2 Carlos AlcarazThe 2022 US Open champion will be looking to extend his winning streak in Grand Slam matches to 15 and will begin his first round match with a match against Australian qualifier Li Tu.

Alcaraz is the bookmakers’ favorite to win overall in Queens and has a record of 16-2 in the Open and 59-10 in the Majors – not bad.

Popcorn ALARM 🍿

It’s difficult to get people to focus on one or two games on the second day. Instead, we recommend keeping an eye on the results and focusing on the games that will be more exciting. There will be plenty of them. Want some ideas?

How about the fourth meeting in the stands, with the 2021 champions in attendance? Emma Raducanu and Australian Open 2020 Sofia Kenin. Quite a fight between the unseeded … or the first match on Armstrong between the soon to retire Danielle Collins and Caroline Dolehide. The support for Collins is likely to be special as the former world number 7 makes her final appearance at the US Open.

On the intimate – and often loud – Court 17, fans can catch a glimpse of the former champion Stan Wawrinkawho will face Italian qualifier Mattia Bellucci. Wawrinka, the 2016 champion in New York, is the oldest player in the field at 39 years old.

Two-time finalist Caroline Wozniacki The Great Dane will also compete on Court 17 – in the second match she will face Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino.
