Quinn Ewers pokes fun at Arch Manning in Dr. Pepper’s new commercial

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers signed his latest NIL contract with soda maker Dr. Pepper last week and will appear in this season’s “Fansville” commercials in the role of Deputy Quinn Ewers.

“Fansville” is a comedy and drama series set in a fictional college town. Now in its seventh season, Dr. Pepper is producing the commercials and bringing on Ewers as the newest character, who will star alongside the returning Brian Bosworth, who played for the Oklahoma Sooners from 1984 to 1986.

“He was a cool guy,” Ewers said of Bosworth. “Meeting ‘The Boz’ was a cool experience. I think he was one of the first people to really try to promote the NIL movement for college football players. Getting to know him and having those conversations was really cool.”

Hand in hand with the announcement of the series’ return, Dr. Pepper released the first two episodes. The third episode has now also been released, in which Ewers pokes fun at his teammate Arch Manning.

In the scene, Sheriff Bosworth tells Deputy Ewers to call for backup, to which Ewers insists that he doesn’t need backup, saying, “…even if he has great hair and famous relatives.”

Ewers reiterates to Bosworth that he made it to the playoffs “without any replacement.”

These lines are obviously a satirical reference to Manning, who is set to serve as Ewers’ backup quarterback this season and may be in action as early as Saturday.

Ewers described his excitement about working on the series “Fansville” as being able to work with a Texas-based company, since Dr. Pepper is based in Plano, Texas and Ewers was born and raised in Texas.

“I feel like Dr. Pepper has always been a big part of college football,” Ewers said. “When I think back to when I was a kid, I’ve always seen Dr. Pepper, whether it was at the college tuition awards or in those ‘Fansville’ commercials. So it’s pretty special to be able to be a part of that. Plus, it’s a Texas brand. They were founded in Texas. That definitely always adds something to it.”

Additional episodes will air at select college football games throughout the season, where fans are sure to find Ewers, who hopes to win an Oscar and a Heisman for his stunning performance in both football and “Fansville.”
