What happened?

On January 27, 1999, 10-year-old Hilal went to the Elbgaustrasse shopping center, which is directly opposite her apartment in Hamburg, to buy sweets. At around 1:25 p.m., she is said to have bought a piece of chewing gum in a “Spar-Markt” but did not return home afterwards.
