Reis and Samsunspor are currently in fourth place in the Süper Lig – only Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas are ahead of the ex-Schalke coach’s team. Although fifth-placed Basaksehir still has a game to catch up on, they have made a remarkable start (more on former S04 stars at RUHR24).

As far as squad value is concerned, Samsunspor transfermarkt.com (as of September 23rd) they are only in tenth place out of 19. The club from the port city has a manageable estimated value of 30.05 million euros, which is spread over 33 players. Samsunspor under former Schalke player Thomas Reis: Great at the back, room for improvement at the front

Samsunspor’s surprising placement, even if it is only a snapshot, is due in part to the team’s good defensive behavior. So far, Reis’s team has only conceded three goals in six league games. With the exception of newly promoted Göztepe and Trabzonspor, no other team can boast a similar defense.

However, the offense leaves something to be desired when compared to the goal tally of the top team. So far, seven goals have been scored by five goal scorers. Here is a comparison: Gala scored 20 goals, Fener 14 and Besiktas eleven – Samsunspor’s pursuer Basaksehir also scored eleven times.

He now plays for KV Mechelen, where he scored once in four appearances. Raman previously did not score a single goal in eleven appearances for Samsunspor.
