This came as little surprise, but now the matter is settled: Carlos Alcaraz will also be allowed to play at the ATP Finals in Turin, he is now safely qualified in terms of rankings.

And that comes as no surprise as a two-time major winner in 2024 (French Open, Wimbledon). Jannik Sinner, also a two-time Grand Slam tournament winner this year (Australian Open, US Open), will also be in Turin.

Alexander Zverev had already qualified for the unofficial tennis world championship. Although he still has no Grand Slam merits, he has consistently performed well this year (including the final at Roland Garros) and is number 2 in the annual race.

Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur still have good chances in the race – they currently complete the top 8. However, the field here is very close together.

Novak Djokovic still has to score well

Novak Djokovic is currently “only” ranked 9th. The “Djoker” had a weak 2024 season by his standards and is still waiting for a regular title. Djokovic only really came out on top at the Olympic Games and won the title. But there were no ranking points for this. Djokovic is also in the final at Wimbledon.

However, Djokovic had recently made it clear that tournaments on the regular tour are no longer a priority for him, but that he would like to concentrate on the Grand Slam tournaments and the Davis Cup for Serbia.

Djokovic has not yet given any concrete plans for the rest of his season.

Alexander Zverev has already won the annual finals twice – in 2018 and 2021.

This year the ATP Finals are scheduled to take place from November 13 to 20, 2024.
