The mutual shelling between Lebanon and Israel continues. Yesterday alone, the Hezbollah militia fired around 300 rockets from Lebanon into Israel. The military responded by attacking Hezbollah positions. Yesterday, a high-ranking commander of the militia was killed. In view of the ever-escalating violence, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) warned of a major war in the Middle East on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. De-escalation is needed from all sides. Reports of civilians killed, including children and employees of the UN Refugee Agency, make this clear.

Filder municipalities want to help seriously injured people from Ukraine

Three communities in the Esslingen district, Ostfildern, Filderstadt and Leinfelden-Echterdingen, want to help their Ukrainian twin city Poltava. They have decided to bring seriously injured people to Germany for rehabilitation. This was announced by the city of Ostfildern. A donations account is also to be set up to finance the aid. According to Ukrainian sources, at least 50 people were killed and around 200 injured in the Russian attack on Poltava three weeks ago.
