Successful clean-up day in Lienen

Successful clean-up day in Lienen

As part of the international Clean Up Day, the municipality of Lienen called for participation. Groups from the Catholic parish of Seliger Niels Stensen, the Lienen refugee aid organization and the OGS of the Lienen elementary school responded to the call, the municipal administration reported in a press release.

Put on gloves and off you go to the designated collection area in the center of Lienen. Equipped with tongs and garbage bags, several large garbage bags were filled in about an hour and left at the parish hall for collection by the community’s building yard. Coffee, juice and home-made cakes await the hard-working collectors as a reward.

Administration and municipal council say “thank you”

Deputy Mayor Ulla Schippmann thanked everyone for their commitment and conveyed greetings from the mayor, who prevented war, and the local council. Along with the greetings, all the children were given an ice cream as a reward. Everyone agreed that together they had once again implemented a wonderful campaign for a beautiful living environment.

A helper said goodbye to the children with the words: “Hopefully we’ll see each other again soon, but then only for coffee.” In response to the astonished looks of those present, she added: “If no more rubbish is carelessly thrown away, we won’t have to go and collect it.” A nice wish and appeal to society.
