Beth Phoenix remembers Edge quitting the “I Quit” match at Extreme Rules 2022 due to lack of sleep

Edge fought Finn Balor in an I Quit Match at WWE Extreme Rules 2022, and Beth Phoenix recently noted that he did it with virtually no sleep. Edge and Balor engaged in a 30-minute match at the PPV, with Phoenix involved at the end when Rhea Ripley threatened her with a Con-Chair-To in an attempt to get Edge to quit. Phoenix spoke about the match on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, revealing that he was unable to compete due to his filming commitments for Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympianshe didn’t sleep properly before the fight. Below you can see the highlights (according to Wrestling Inc):

About the show:PercyJackson The filming was booked and it was attached to the pay-per-view match, the ‘I Quit’ match. That was in Philadelphia on pay-per-view. And so Adam had to fly all the way from Vancouver to Philadelphia, all night, basically not sleeping, and then have a 40-minute match with Finn Balor, which was an ‘I Quit’ match.”

On the handover of his ring equipment: “I flew his equipment, everything he needed for the game, from Asheville to Philadelphia and met him at 11 a.m. on pay-per-view day after he had filmed PercyJackson for about two weeks and chartered a flight straight to Philadelphia. Basically he laid down in the hotel for about 30 minutes and then we had to go into the building and put the coil part together.”
