They have already scored an impressive 16 goals and only conceded three. The resulting goal difference of +13 means they have made the best start ever.

With this quote, Kompany surpassed all his predecessors. The previous leader in terms of the best Bundesliga start after four games was Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the 2016/2017 season. Back then, Bayern had 12 points and a goal difference of 14:1 after four games. Although the goal difference is the same, the current season is considered the best ever based on the goals scored.

Other best results after four games of the season were achieved under Jupp Heynckes in the 2012/2013 triple season with four wins and a goal difference of 14:2, and under Udo Lattek in the 1972/1973 season, also with four wins and a goal difference of 13:1. Vincent Kompany also surpassed Pep Guardiola’s best start to a season. Guardiola’s best start to a season was in the 2015/2016 season, when he won the first four league games with Bayern for the first time and achieved a goal difference of 12:2.

Not all teams were champions after a perfect start
