Charges filed after video of man attacking Ontario restaurant staff surfaces online

The OPP has filed charges against an Ontario man who gained online notoriety this week for hurling threats and insults at restaurant staff after he was confronted while attempting to leave the restaurant without paying his bill.

Just days after a video of an Ontario man attacking a waiter at Magnone’s Italian Kitchen went viral across social media platforms, the OPP announced that the man will now face two criminal charges for his conduct.

The video was shared by internet personality Michael McWhorter (known online as @tizzyent) and shows a heated argument between the man, identified as a 38-year-old from Brampton, and one of the restaurant’s servers after the server allegedly went out to confront the man about not paying his $350 bill.

“I’m going to fucking knock you out,” the man screams at the waiter in the video, “you don’t know me.”

Although the man in the video later returned to the restaurant to apologize and pay his bill, according to Magnone (and later confirmed by the OPP), he now faces charges of assault and threat of assault based on his behavior in the video.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario court in late October. Anyone with further information about the incident

At the time of publication, video of the incident had garnered more than 3 million views on McWhorter’s TikTok, Instagram and X accounts.
