DC police respond to violent confrontation with arrest


Washington, DC – A suspect was arrested in connection with an aggravated threat following an incident on 14th Street Northwest.

On Monday, September 23, at approximately 6:20 p.m., an altercation occurred at a bar. During the altercation, the suspect made derogatory comments about the employees’ national origins and threatened them with a firearm. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene.

Chanae Ridian Watson, 32, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with threatening to kidnap or assault.

Investigators are looking into the incident for possible hate or bias motivations. This designation may change as the investigation continues, and a hate crime designation by D.C. Metro Police does not guarantee prosecution as such. The Special Liaison Branch is assisting with the investigation.

  • Suspects sought in connection with robbery of bar on North High Street

    COLUMBUS, OH — Columbus Police are asking for the public’s help in reference to an aggravated assault that occurred last Thursday on North High Street.

    At around 11:50 p.m., the victim and witnesses were leaving a bar when an argument broke out. According to police, the suspect punched the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. The victim remained unconscious for about two minutes.

    The suspect was described as someone wearing a black t-shirt with a large sticker on the back, blue jeans and brown boots. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect to contact the Columbus Police Felony Assault Unit at 614-644-4141.

    Anonymous tips can be sent to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS. The investigation is ongoing.

    Photos of the suspect have been shared on social media by Columbus Police. Citizens are encouraged to view these images and report any relevant details to law enforcement.

  • Virginia man arrested in Maryland in February for aggressive driving

    FORESTVILLE, MD – A Virginia man was arrested following a Maryland State Police investigation into an armed DUI incident in Prince George's County in February.

    Joshua John Cook, 34, of Fairfax County, Virginia, was arrested by Virginia State Police at his home on Thursday. He faces assault, weapons offenses and related charges. Cook was released by a Virginia judge pending further court proceedings.

    College Park Barracks police officers responded to a report of a traffic crash involving a black Ford F-150 on February 2. The driver allegedly pointed a firearm at another motorist near Interstate 95 and Route 1 in Prince George's County.

    Investigators identified Cook as a suspect based on dashcam footage. Virginia State Police seized a handgun from his vehicle and assisted in the investigation.
