YCC athletes miss the round of 16 in the MS 11 Match Race

Last weekend, the German Motorboat Championship in MS11 Match Race took place in Esslingen am Neckar, where numerous participants from various federal states such as Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Lower Saxony competed against each other. Unfortunately, the tournament did not go as hoped for the YCC (Yacht Club Celle).

The two qualified participants, Deniz Bender and Keno Pollmann, had difficulty performing to their usual standard in a strong field of 18 male drivers. After six challenging preliminary rounds, both had to start with lower rankings: Deniz finished 16th, Keno followed in 17th place. Despite great commitment and good preparation, driving errors crept in during the races, which made it impossible for our athletes to qualify for the round of 16.

In addition to the male competition, 12 female participants also took part, who also competed in exciting match races. They won all races and the title of German champions 2024 went to:

German Champion: John Greif from Saxony
German Champion: Sara Riewe from Berlin.

Even though the YCC didn’t make it onto the podium, contacts were made, a great sunny weekend was spent on the water and doing water sports, and new experiences were gained. The YCC team is staying on the ball and is already preparing for the next challenges, because the next motorboat slalom championships are in mid-October.

The youth and sports officials, competition judges, coaches and parents showed great commitment, driving ~600 km to Esslingen with the young people to make such experiences possible. The YCC is already looking forward to the upcoming competitions.
