Language learning app “Duolingo” presents new AI features

Several product innovations were announced at the annual Duocon 2024 conference. These include two new features called Videocall and Adventures, which show how consistently Duolingo (App Store link) now uses the latest AI to continuously improve the learning experience.

AI-supported video calls with Lilli

Duolingo’s new video call feature marks an important step in language learning. With the AI-supported tool, Duolingo Max subscribers can have spontaneous and realistic conversations with Lilli, a popular Duolingo character. The technology simulates natural dialogues in an interactive practice environment and automatically adapts to the language level. This means that even beginners can talk to Lilli in a relaxed manner. The function promotes self-confidence and helps to communicate more confidently in real situations. Video call is available on iOS in the Duolingo Max subscription for the learning languages ​​English, Spanish and French.

The Adventures feature is also new. For the first time, you can experience dynamic functions in the Duolingo universe and interact with popular characters such as Oscar and Lilli. The small adventures allow you to use language skills in realistic scenarios such as passport control or ordering a coffee. This makes language learning both practical and entertaining.

Duolingo also teaches math and music, and with the announcement of a partnership with Loog, a leading manufacturer of portable musical instruments, a compact, portable electronic piano has been developed.
