HoYoverse announces big changes Zenless Zone Zero in the next updates, including optimizations and major gameplay improvements for things like the Hollow Exploration TV mode. Following in the footsteps of HoYoverse’s two previous releases with Genshin Influence And Honkai: Star Trail, Zenless Zone Zero has become another great success story for the studio.

The tried and tested free-to-play gacha mechanics remain intact. Zenless Zone Zero is a more action-oriented title that offers fast-paced combat and incredibly well-animated characters that compete against each other in a rather urban-looking wasteland. Zenless Zone Zero continues to showcase new characters via limited-time banners and regularly updates the game with new content from events to story missions to ensure players continue to log in frequently. Despite all of the game’s successes, however, HoYoverse admits that not everything is perfect, revealing a plan for how to deal with some rough edges and elements that fans may not like as much.

In advance of the upcoming patch 1.2, HoYoverse has published a detailed list of optimizations, changes and improvements that will be included in Zenless Zone Zero both this week and in the future. For the next update, players will receive new features such as a backup battery charging system that will allow players to exceed their energy limit. The Notorious Hunt mode in Zenless Zone Zerowhich was previously the only way for players to obtain rare resources for leveling agents, will not be the only way to earn these materials. HoYoverse will add new ways to farm the gear, allowing players to spend Battery Charge to obtain more even when the weekly limit is reached, as well as interact with chests containing selectable core skill materials in the Outpost Logistics Shop.

Zenless Zone Zero plans to overhaul the gameplay of the divisive TV mode

In addition to these improvements, HoYoverse also had a lot to say about the Hollow Exploration TV mode, which sees players guide their proxy character through a TV maze where various enemies, modifiers, and bonuses are scattered throughout. Back Zenless Zone Zero Updates have attempted to speed up this gameplay, but there are more changes to come, including a Fairy Auto Explore mode where the AI automatically collects unclaimed observation data and rewards for already completed contracts. Additionally, Hollow Zero will be expanding to include Blitz Operation mode, which will allow players to dive straight into combat without having to explore the TV board first.

One of the biggest changes, however, is with update 1.2 for Zenless Zone Zerowhich will essentially completely replace TV Mode in the main story and all future storylines. HoYoverse has announced that TV Mode will be replaced by story levels, which are planned as a new way to experience the game. In terms of side content and quests, TV Mode’s gameplay appears to remain unchanged. For now, it’s clear that HoYoverse is keeping an eye on fan feedback, so it will be interesting to see if these changes not only stick around long-term, but also lead to more major gameplay changes in future updates.
