Question Time travels to the USA for a special election broadcast

Question Time will host a special US election broadcast as BBC One’s flagship political debate programme travels to the key swing state of Pennsylvania in the run-up to the presidential election.

The debate, moderated by Fiona Bruce, will be recorded at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with an American audience and a panel of politicians and prominent commentators.

The US election special, Question Time, gives American voters the opportunity to ask the panel about key election issues such as the economy, immigration, abortion, foreign policy, and the character and political preferences of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The show also offers British viewers unique insights into the issues that concern US voters at such a volatile and divisive time in American politics.

Fiona Bruce says: “Question Time is unique in its ability to hold politicians to account and stimulate debate between those in power and voters. The world is watching America and with just weeks to go until election day, Question Time’s format will spark a lively debate that could pose a real challenge for US politicians who are not regularly questioned by the public on live television. This promises to be a dynamic and insightful Question Time for viewers in the US and UK, where we will get an up-close and personal look at US politics and see what really matters to voters in a key swing state.”

The show will be recorded on Wednesday 9 October and broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm on Thursday 10 October. Panel details will be confirmed shortly.

We will be working with relevant media partners to broadcast the programme to local and national viewers in the US. US and global viewers will be able to watch it on the BBC News channel, the BBC News YouTube channel and on World Service English on Thursday. Exact times will be confirmed shortly.

Viewers in the US can watch the BBC News channel on cable, live streamed on the newly launched BBC.com and BBC app, and live streamed 24/7 on major FAST platforms including Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, Xumo Play, VIZIO WatchFree+, Sling Freestream and Plex. The US election special Question Time will also be available to Britbox subscribers in North America and other territories.

The programme can be viewed live on the BBC North American news pages.

Pennsylvania residents can apply to be a spectator here.
