PS 57’s STREAM program receives $10,000 grant | In Class column

STATEN ISLAND, NY — A Staten Island elementary school has received $10,000 in funding to support its STREAM program for students.

Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton has allocated funds to PS 57 in Clifton to support the STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics/Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math) program.

“As a mother of two children attending public school and the daughter of two teachers, I deeply understand the critical role education plays in shaping the life of every child,” said Scarcella-Spanton. “I can’t wait to see them reach their full potential. I will always support our students and our schools financially.”

Kayrn Singleton, principal of PS 57, thanked Scarcella-Spanton for the general donation.

CSI LAUNCHES DIGITAL SKILLS BOOTCAMP

The College of Staten Island (CSI) in Willowbrook has announced the launch of new bootcamps for cutting-edge digital skills and technical reskilling.

CSI has partnered with Upright Education, a leading provider of career-focused technology education, to offer high-impact digital skills and technology reskilling bootcamps designed to equip adult learners with the competencies they need to succeed in the fast-paced digital economy.

“We are thrilled to partner with Upright Education to bring these innovative bootcamps to the Staten Island community,” said Robert Wallace, who oversees CSI’s economic development efforts. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing an accessible, high-quality education that prepares our students for success in a rapidly evolving job market.”

This partnership offers a series of intensive bootcamps focusing on key areas such as software development, UX/UI design, data analytics and digital marketing. These programs are tailored to the needs of the current job market.

Key features include:

Comprehensive curriculum: Programming includes a challenging curriculum developed by industry experts and covering the latest tools, technologies and best practices.

Experienced lecturers: Participants learn from experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in their respective fields.

Career advancement: Graduates receive specialized career services, including resume workshops, interview preparation and job placement assistance.

Flexible learning options: To accommodate a varied schedule, the bootcamps are offered in part-time formats with a hybrid mix of live video conferencing and asynchronous work.
