There will be more construction sites in Neubrandenburg’s city center (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district) in 2025. The renovation of the former Kaufhof building, Poststrasse and the demolition of the Waagestrasse high-rise will begin. A building application has been submitted for the former department store, confirmed Mayor Silvio Witt (independent). A supermarket and restaurant will then move into the ground floor of the listed building. The use of the upper floors has not yet been finalized. In addition, construction will begin on the market square at the end of the year. Then the demolition of the high-rise on Waagestrasse will begin, said Witt. Große Wollweberstrasse is currently being renovated in Neubrandenburg’s city center. The construction work is scheduled to be completed by 2026.
