Union Weekly Sports Schedule | Southeast Iowa Union

Football, volleyball and cross-country in full swing

By the end of this week, fall sports will be in full swing in the Union Region.

Football, volleyball and cross-country are offered.

From the major schools in the Union Area, the football teams Washington, Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield will be in action on Friday.

The Mt. Pleasant Volleyball Association opens its season on Thursday in a triangular game in Ottumwa.

Fairfield’s volleyball team also starts Thursday and will face No. 2 seed Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and WACO.

The first cross country meet of the season for the region’s major schools will be held in Anamosa, with both Washington boys and girls participating.

To conclude the week, the volleyball teams from Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant will travel to Grinnell to compete in a 12-team tournament.

It’s similar with the small schools. All the football teams from the small schools in the area play on Friday nights.

Volleyball lessons for small schools begin on Tuesday and Thursday. Some schools have already started tournaments on Monday.
