SETTING THE STAGE

• Elon opens the 2024 regular season on Friday night at Duke in a game that will be broadcast on the ACC Network. Elon enters the season with high expectations, ranking just one spot behind in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 media poll.
• Friday night’s game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Wallace Wade Stadium. Duke has an overall record of 7-0-1 against Elon, with seven of those meetings coming at Duke. The Blue Devils won the last meeting in 2014 by a score of 52-13.
• Elon, Head Coach Tony Trisciani begins his sixth season as coach of the Phoenix and is the longest-tenured coach in the program since Al Seagraves led the program for eight seasons from 1996-03. Duke will have a new head coach in Manny Diaz, who led Miami (Florida) from 2019-2021.
• Elon opens the season on the road against a Power Four opponent for the third consecutive year. The Phoenix lost 37-17 at Wake Forest in 2023 and 42-31 at Vanderbilt in 2022. Elon outscored both opponents in the second half by a combined score of 38-27.
• Saturday’s game will be broadcast nationally on the ACC Network with Clay Matvick, Steve Addazio and Justin Walters on the phone.
