3 arrests in shooting at Monarch Ridge Apartments that leaves 21-year-old dead

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Three people have been arrested in connection with last week’s shooting at Monarch Ridge Apartments that left 21-year-old Asia Poole dead and another injured, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

On August 20, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at the apartment complex and found Poole unconscious.

Poole’s vehicle was also reportedly stolen from the scene, but was quickly found unoccupied in the 2300 block of Center Point Parkway.

On Friday, the BPD announced that it had obtained arrest warrants for three suspects and that all three had been arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Justin Hendrix, 20, of Birmingham, and Taylor McCloud, 22, of Fairfield, were charged with murder and attempted murder.

They are being held without bail.

Ja’Niyah Hendrix, 19, of Birmingham, was charged with grand theft auto and is being held on $30,000 bail.
