Schwärzler separates from coach Melzer and ÖTV

Joel Schwärzler has made a far-reaching decision for the future!

The young tennis player and the Austrian Tennis Association are going down new paths in the future. The contract with the long-standing ÖTV contract player was terminated by mutual agreement, so that the Vorarlberg native can take the next steps in his career with an individually assembled team. The collaboration with his long-time coach Jürgen Melzer also ended.

The 18-year-old mega talent will no longer train at the ÖTV performance center in Südstadt. “I can’t thank Jürgen (Melzer’s note) enough. Without him and the team at the ÖTV performance center in Südstadt, I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now,” said the 18-year-old in expressing his gratitude.

Schwärzler: “This is the next step in my development”

“I think that the time has come for me to stand on my own two feet in the future and put together my own team. That is the next step in my development,” said Schwärzler.

“We can be really proud of what we have achieved together. It was great to work with Joel and to be able to further develop his great potential. I wish him all the best for his future. Of course, we as the Austrian Tennis Association will continue to support Joel as best as possible on his further path to the top,” explained ÖTV Sports Director Jürgen Melzer.
