Kamala Harris accepts the debate, Trump turns away

Donald Trump is scared – and not just because of these lawsuits and criminal proceedings – he is also avoiding a second presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. The former president is backtracking, proving once again that he is telling others to fight while he himself flees from what is happening, just like on January 6th.

Kamala Harris made a big splash when she accepted CNN’s invitation to a second debate on October 23, just two weeks before the 2024 presidential election. In true fighter fashion, Harris used X (formerly Twitter) to taunt her opponent, writing:

“I’m happy to participate in a second presidential debate on October 23. I hope @realDonaldTrump joins me” (X).

But did Trump take the bait? Of course not.

Trump: “It’s too late” for a new debate

Instead of facing another round, Trump rushed to his comfort zone – a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina. Accordingly Politico, He told his followers:

“She has participated in one debate, I in two. It is too late for another one.”

His excuse? Early voting had already begun in states like Minnesota, Virginia and South Dakota, so why debate now? “It’s too late. The votes are cast, the voters are out there,” he said. As if it was too much for him to face his opponent when the ballots are already pouring in. Please!

Sounds like someone is afraid of losing to America again.

Harris’ team: “Donald should not be afraid”

The Vice President’s campaign team smelled blood and wasted no time in sharply criticizing Trump. In NewsweekJen O’Malley Dillon, Harris’ campaign manager, was realistic in a statement:

“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate. It has the same format and structure as the CNN debate in June, which he participated in and claimed he won.”

The conclusion was clear: Trump is evading because he knows he may not emerge victorious this time.

Remember how he mocked Biden after their presidential debate? He even kept mentioning – excuse me –Mockery sick Biden during his debate with Harris when he thought he had won.

What a sore loser.

And let’s not forget Trump’s infamous boast after the first debate on September 10, when he faced Harris. He confidently declared his victory, even though most observers gave Harris the win.

Trump’s response to Harris’ call for a rematch was posted on Truth Social, claiming that the only reason she wanted another debate was because he “won” the first one.

“When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH,'” Trump wrote.

He convinces no one except the most die-hard MAGA supporters.

The reality and the reactions: Trump is “afraid”

Tim Ryan, a former congressman from Ohio and frequent Trump critic, also did not want to put up with this. The GuardianHe criticizes Trump’s refusal to debate and says it is not just a matter of strategy, but of fear.

“Behind the beard, the tan and the hair are two frightened little boys.”

Now let’s get into the details of why Trump is so anxious heading into the campaign. After all, he has a lot to lose. His first debate appearance in June against President Joe Biden was seen by many as a victory, but Biden’s lackluster performance ultimately led to his withdrawal from the race.

When Harris stepped into the spotlight and outperformed him in the first head-to-head matchup in Philadelphia, Trump’s campaign knew that another round could further damage his carefully cultivated image as a “tough guy” who never gives up.

Harris gives in: Campaign dominates fundraising

The Harris campaign is on the offensive, raising three times as much money as Trump’s team in August, showing that momentum is firmly on their side. And Team Harris is not letting up, continuing to argue that the American people deserve a second debate before the November 5 election.

Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign manager, shared a statement in Newsweek:

“It would be unprecedented in modern history if there were only a single debate in the general election.”

And she’s right. In previous election cycles, voters were able to watch multiple debates in which they saw the candidates discuss various issues.

By avoiding another debate, Trump risks creating the impression that he is not up to the challenge – something Harris’ campaign team is only too happy to remind voters of.

The battle lines are drawn and Harris is ready to fight. But Trump decides to walk away, just as he has done with several business failures. We saw how confident he was in facing Biden, but Harris SHOCKED him! And rightly so, if the polls are to be believed.

I guess we’ll see if this strategy works for him – or if running away from a fight just makes the losses pile up faster.
