Truck accident on the M25: Naufil Shah from Stanford-le-Hope dies

Truck accident on the M25: Naufil Shah from Stanford-le-Hope dies

In the early hours of September 8, police were called to Exit 29 after receiving a report of “a collision between a truck and pedestrians standing on the shoulder.”

“Officers attended the scene along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and treated two men,” the Metropolitan Police said.

“Despite all efforts, one of the men died at the scene of the accident.”

The man has now been named to the court as 34-year-old Naufil Shah of Corringham Road in Stanford-le-Hope.

An inquest into his death was opened at East London Coroner’s Court in Walthamstow on Thursday 19 September.

“He died on the M25 at junction 29,” said senior coroner Graeme Irvine.

“His death was reported to this court by the Metropolitan Police Service on 8 September and a preliminary investigation was opened to determine the cause of death.

“The court ordered an autopsy and the cause of death was given as multiple injuries resulting from a traffic accident.

“In these circumstances, I will be launching an investigation. The reason for this is because it is clear to me that Mr Shah suffered a violent death as a result of a road traffic accident, as described in the law.”

He declared Mr Shah’s next of kin as persons of interest in the investigation and gave them the right to examine evidence and question witnesses if the case comes back to court.

“I will also nominate the Metropolitan Police Service as a person of interest as they investigate the death,” Mr Irvine said.

He requested records and statements from the emergency services, the rescue helicopter, Mr Shah’s GP and the pathologist who carried out the autopsy.

He also ordered “an update from the chief investigating officer regarding any forensic or criminal investigation.”

The investigation was scheduled for April 2, 2025.

Police said no arrests had been made so far.

Officers urged anyone with dashcam footage from around the time of the collision – which occurred just before 3.56am on September 8 – to call 101 and quote CAD 1299/08SEP.
