Rain only gets a draw in the match against Kirchanschöring despite superiority

In an exciting away game at SV Kirchanschöring, TSV Rain had to settle for a 2:2 draw despite taking the lead at one point. Shortly before the end, the hosts equalized with a free kick and thus prevented the Blumenstädter from winning away.

SV Kirchanschöring – TSV Rain 2:2 (1:0)
Compared to the 0-1 loss to Türkspor Augsburg, Rain’s coach Sven Zurawka made four changes to his starting lineup. Etienne Perfetto, Jake Parish, Lukas Müller and Eugen Belousow replaced the injured Giovanni Pollio, as well as Leo Haas, Altin Maxhuni and Marcello Ljubicic, who all started on the bench in the early years.

First big chance already in the second minute

The game started at a rapid pace: In the second minute, Marc Sodji had a great chance to put the visitors ahead, but his shot was cleared just before the goal line. Kirchanschöring responded three minutes later with a header from Gabriel Öllerer, which, however, posed no problems for Rain’s goalkeeper Fabian Eutinger. After about a quarter of an hour, TSV Rain increasingly took control of the proceedings. Marc Sodji in particular repeatedly posed a threat in front of the hosts’ goal with his dynamism, but he too was repeatedly stopped by Egon Weber in the home team’s goal. In the 36th minute, Gabriel Hasenbichler failed alone in front of the goal, and shortly afterwards Manuel Omelanowsky narrowly missed a free kick cross. In the 43rd minute, Omelanowsky then took his second chance. After an exemplary counterattack, Thorsten Nicklas crossed the ball and Omelanowsky pushed it in to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Sodji quickly scored for Rain in the immediate counterattack, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Then the referee blew his whistle for tea half-time.

Kirchanschöring with energetic phase

Kirchanschöring started the second half energetically. Omelanowsky quickly increased the lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute, but only hit the side netting. But then Rain turned the game around: In the 54th minute, Benito Alisanovic set up Sodji with a long ball, who left two opponents and the goalkeeper standing and scored the equalizer. Just three minutes later, it was Sodji again who scored to make it 2-1 for the visitors after a precise pass from Hasenbichler. Rain continued to press for the decision, but wasted several top-class chances. Sami Achir served Gabriel Hasenbichler, who shot immediately, but only hit the crossbar. Sami Achir missed the preliminary decision twice: In the 63rd minute, his well-placed shot from 12 meters was saved by the Kirchanschöring goalkeeper. Four minutes later, he won a running duel high on the halfway line, got past the goalkeeper and was blocked by a defender at the very last moment. On the other side, Fabian Eutinger showed his skills in the Rainer goal when he parried a dangerous header from close range.

Opportunities missed

TSV Rain missed numerous chances, which would come back to haunt them in the final phase: In the 88th minute, Jonas Krombichler converted a direct free kick from 20 meters into the right corner of the goal to equalize at 2:2.

Shortly before the final whistle, a decision by the referee caused a stir on the Rainer bench. The sporting director Jürgen Meissner loudly expressed his displeasure and was sent off with a yellow-red card. After the final whistle, the guests were very disappointed – given the share of the game and the number of goal chances, TSV Rain could have achieved much more than a draw. Everyone understood and spectators agreed after the game that this point win for SV Kirchanschöring was more than lucky.
