New search for Windows: This tool finds everything faster than Microsoft itself

Unlike Windows Search, Everything does not use the Windows search index, but works with a trick: When the program is started for the first time, it creates its own database that contains the file names and folders as well as the drive letters. This is quick; a newly installed Windows is recorded in a second, and a million files can be added to the index in a minute.

This is achieved so quickly because the software uses the Master File Table (MFT) of NTFS-formatted drives. If you change something in a file, this correction is logged in the NTFS journal, which Everything recognizes and immediately adjusts its database. For this reason, the program can only work with NTFS-formatted drives.

But Everything is not only really fast, it also lets you search using Boolean operators and wildcards. You can also narrow down your search using various parameters and filter out the bits that are right for you.
