Demi Moore has revealed the “crazy” way she lost weight after putting “so much pressure” on herself following the birth of her daughter Scout.

The 61-year-old actress was working on Indecent Proposal just months after giving birth to her second daughter with then-husband Bruce Willis in 1991, and she admitted she tried too hard to lose the baby weight.

Demi remembers cycling 30 miles to and from set every day to lose weight, despite the pressure Hollywood put on her.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, she explained: “I fed her [Scout] staying up all night, getting up in the dark with a trainer… biking all the way to Paramount, even to our location; then shooting a full day, which is usually 12 hours; and then starting all over again.

‘I find [Scout] was about five or six months old when we were shooting… I put so much pressure on myself…

“I’ve had experiences of being told to lose weight. And while that may have been embarrassing and humiliating, that was what I did to myself… Just the thought of what I did to my body is so crazy, so ridiculous.”

Demi, who has children Rumer (36), Scout (33) and Tallulah (30) with her ex-husband Bruce, further admitted that losing weight after pregnancy was actually “not that important” to her, but at the time it was hugely important to her.

“Yes. But when you look back, you think: ‘Was it really that important?’ Probably not! But at the time, it was the most important thing to me,” she recalls.

When asked what she thinks when she looks in the mirror now, Demi admitted that she has good days and bad days.

She added: “It fluctuates. Some days I look and think, ‘Wow. This is pretty good.’ And some days I find myself over-analyzing things and hyper-focusing on things I don’t like.

“The difference is that now I can catch myself. I can say: Yes, I don’t like this saggy skin. But, you know, it is what it is. So I’m going to make the best of what is, instead of chasing what isn’t.”

Meanwhile, Demi recently announced that she had lost 20 pounds after contracting shingles on the set of her new spooky film, The Substance.

“To give you an idea of the intensity, my first week of actually having the day off and only Margaret working, I got shingles,” she told the LA Times. “And then I lost about 20 pounds.”

“You have to walk away feeling like you’ve put everything on the table,” Demi added. “It was meant to be and that’s what you want to contribute.”
