Carrie Underwood’s return to Football on Sunday evening is imminent.

Over the weekend, NBC released the first teaser of their 2024 theme song, along with a montage video to get fans in the mood for football season. The clip shows Underwood stepping into the spotlight—in a silver, rhinestone-encrusted outfit, of course—intercut with shots of football games and fans cheering from the sidelines.

The SNSF begins on September 8th with the Detroit Lions home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Underwood is now in her 12th year as a singer SNSF Theme song, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” She took up the torch from Faith Hill in 2013 and has taken some creative liberties over the years beyond performing the traditional theme song.

In 2017, Underwood created a football-friendly version of her Miranda Lambert duet “Something Bad” and called it “Oh Sunday Night.” She also recorded an original song titled “Game On.”

In 2019, for the NFL’s 100th anniversary, Underwood enlisted rocker Joan Jett to appear alongside her in the opening video. Jett’s 1988 hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You” is the original inspiration for the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” theme.

Underwood is preparing for a busy year. In 2025, she will join the cast of American Idol as a judge – two decades after she won the singing competition in 2005.
