Algonquin motorcycle-SUV crash remains under investigation – Shaw Local

The Algonquin Police Department released additional information Monday regarding a Friday evening crash on Route 31 and Oakwood Court that left a motorcyclist transported to a Level 1 trauma center.

According to a news release Monday, emergency crews were called to the intersection around 7:45 p.m. Friday. The preliminary investigation shows a gray SUV was traveling west on Oakwood Court and turned onto Route 31, then turned south. The motorcyclist was traveling north on Route 31 and collided with the SUV.

Officials did not disclose whether the driver of the SUV received a ticket for the accident.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District transported the motorcyclist to Mercy Hospital-Crystal Lake with serious injuries. The driver was later flown by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a Level 1 trauma center. The driver and passengers of the SUV suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene, according to the news release.

The northbound lanes of Route 31 were closed from North Main Street to Linden Avenue for four hours during the crash investigation, the release states. The crash remains under investigation by Algonquin Police, with assistance from the Kane County Crash Assistance Response Team (KCART).
