It seems that Even the Trump campaign team wants the former president to remain silent.

This is according to a story published by Politico It alleges that there was a disagreement between the Trump campaign and the Harris campaign over microphone rules at the September 10 presidential debate, specifically whether the microphones should be live throughout the debate. Politico The Harris team reportedly wants the microphones turned on, ostensibly because they believe it would give Trump a chance to embarrass himself; Trump’s team is reportedly pushing for silent microphones, which they say was the condition they agreed to when scheduling the debate with President Biden before he dropped out.

Brian Fallon, chief communications adviser to Harris’ campaign, urged Trump in a post on X to “reject his advisers’ attempts to silence him by muting his microphone.”

It looks like Fallon may have been right: Later Monday, Trump told an NBC News reporter who asked him about reports of the microphone dispute that “I don’t care – I probably would have preferred to have it on.”

“I always suspected it was something his staff wanted, not him personally,” Fallon posted on X above a video of the exchange. “With that cleared up, everything is now set for September 10th.”

Spokespeople for the Trump campaign and ABC News did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, claimed Politico Fallon stated that the Harris campaign was “looking for a way to avoid any debate with President Trump,” and claimed that the Harris campaign wanted both candidates to sit during the debate and have access to their notes – which Fallon denied.

Yet it appears that Trump is the candidate who wants to avoid a debate. In a rant to Truth Social on Sunday night, Trump claimed without evidence that ABC was biased and questioned whether he would participate in the debate, but made no mention of the microphone controversy.

Harris, on the other hand, seems ready to go: “The Vice President is ready to debate Trump live and uncensored,” Fallon posted on X. “Trump should stop hiding behind the mute button.”
