Fiebich at the start of the playoffs: Best WNBA game of her career

The New York Liberty starts the WNBA playoffs with a clear victory. The most points were scored by Leonie Fiebich. The 24-year-old from Bavaria already received an award.

National basketball player Leonie Fiebich gave her team the perfect start to the playoffs with the best performance of her young WNBA career. In the New York Liberty’s 83:69 win against the Atlanta Dream, the 24-year-old scored her personal best of 21 points. No one else had more points than her. Earlier in the day, Fiebich was selected for the league’s All-Rookie Team, making her one of the best new players in the best women’s basketball league in the world. “There’s no question about that,” said coach Sandy Brondello.

Fiebich made her first five shots of the game and had only one missed shot in the entire game. “That was a quick layup, she’ll practice that tomorrow,” coach Brondello joked after the game in the playoff series against Atlanta. Fiebich, who comes from Landsberg am Lech, played from the start. “It doesn’t matter how long I play or what role I play. I will always bring the same energy,” said Fiebich. “We need her,” said star player Breanna Stewart. “I really enjoy playing with her.”

As the best team in the regular season, the Liberty have home advantage and will also host the second game of the best-of-three series on Tuesday evening (local time). If the Dream wins and there is a third game, game three would be on Thursday evening (local time) in Atlanta.

Fiebich’s German teammate Nyara Sabally came off the bench and played nearly 16 minutes, scoring two points, along with seven strong rebounds and a block.
