Bridgeport Public School Takes Security Measures After Arrest in Threat Investigation

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – Bridgeport Public Schools is implementing enhanced safety measures as students and staff prepare to return to school Monday following a recent threat to schools in the state.

In coordination with local law enforcement, the district actively investigated the threat, which resulted in an arrest.

The authorities assured the district that there is currently no concrete danger.

To ensure a safe environment, there is a strong police presence at schools throughout the district.

In addition, the District has reviewed and strengthened its existing safety protocols, including emergency plans and communication procedures with the City of Bridgeport Emergency Operations and police departments.

Counseling and support services are also available for students and staff who feel uncomfortable or concerned about the recent evolution of threats to schools across the state.

“We are confident that these measures will provide a safe environment for our students as they resume school activities,” said Dr. Carmela Levy-David, Superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools. “Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep everyone updated with any updates.”
