BREAKING NEWS: Tensions as PDP rants and warns INEC not to announce final results of Edo governorship election

Benin City, Edo State – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the APC and INEC against declaring a governorship result that does not reflect the will of the people of Edo State.

PDP National Spokesperson Debo Ologunagba warned that such action would lead to a serious crisis in Edo State.

This was contained in a statement released on Sunday, September 22 via the X-Handle (formerly known as Twitter) @OfficialPDPNig.

“The PDP strongly warns APC and INEC against declaring or announcing results that do not reflect the will of the people as expressed at the polling stations. This would be a recipe for a huge crisis in the state because the people of Edo State will never allow their mandate to fall into illegitimate hands.”

The PDP insisted that its candidate Asue Ighodalo won the Edo State governorship election on Saturday, September 21.

“As Governor Fintiri presented, Asue Ighodalo was clearly in the lead according to the results tallied by polling stations before the APC hijacked the nationwide vote. With the connivance of unscrupulous INEC and security officials, it blatantly altered and replaced the real results with fabricated figures in favour of the defeated APC candidate.”
