Suspect and victim in Lyons shooting identified; man charged with murder

LYONS, NY – A Lyons man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of another man who was found dead in a Maple Street residence.

Randolph L. Scott, 37, who lives in the apartment where the victim was found dead Saturday, was found in an adjacent home and taken into custody. He was charged Sunday morning with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held in jail without bail, with a hearing scheduled for Sept. 26.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Shawn G. Rahn, 40, who lived elsewhere in Lyons.

Officers arrived at the apartment building at 24 Maple Street around 10:36 a.m. Saturday after 911 calls reporting a domestic violence incident involving a firearm. They found Rahn dead from gunshot wounds. Wayne County Sheriff Robert Milby said Saturday that police identified the suspect and took him into custody “a short time later.”
