Two men have been arrested after an 87-year-old man was dragged into a car and attacked before being dumped on a dark road, many miles from his home.

According to police, the incident occurred between 9pm and 9.30pm last Sunday in the Lee Street area of ​​Oldham as the man was on his way home.

The pensioner was allegedly dragged into a black car, blindfolded and attacked while driving through West Yorkshire, leaving him with injuries.

Greater Manchester Police demanded his money and personal belongings, but he finally received help when he knocked on a door at around 10.40pm.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping on Thursday and released on bail pending further investigations.

A 24-year-old man was arrested at an address in Royton this morning on suspicion of kidnapping. He remains in custody and is being questioned.

According to police, the incident occurred last Sunday between 9pm and 9.30pm on Lee Street in Oldham (pictured) as the man was walking home.

Officials are asking the public for information.

Detective Inspector Emma Hulston, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We have arrested two men in connection with this shocking incident and our investigation team is making good progress in gathering evidence to clarify the full circumstances.”

“Although incidents of this nature can cause concern among the public, we believe this was an isolated incident that did not pose a major threat to the public.

“Specialist officers continue to support the victim and detectives are working around the clock to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

“We continue to ask the public for any information, dashcam or doorbell footage that could help us solve this crime and bring all those responsible to justice.”
