Heather Strube’s life took a tragic turn during a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband Steven Strube. In April 2009, she was shot dead in front of Carson, who was still in the car, while driving to a parking lot where they were to exchange their son Carson. The investigation pointed to Joanna Hayes, Steven’s mother, as a suspect. She was full of animosity toward Heather and wanted to prevent her from gaining custody of Carson. Joanna was convicted of murder and related charges.
