2 of the LA Galaxy injured

Former Dortmund player Marco Reus was substituted due to injury in Major League Soccer. Reus had to leave the field in the 66th minute of his Los Angeles Galaxy’s 4:2 win against Vancouver Whitecaps. Immediately after the first goal for the visitors, he had sat down on the grass and grabbed the back of his right thigh.

“He said he started to feel something and didn’t want to take any risks,” said coach Greg Vanney. “This is the third game in seven days.” Up to that point, he had hardly had any noticeable scenes in the game, but Vanney seemed satisfied with his star player.

Reus back in the starting eleven this time

“He’s fun to watch, he’s a smart player. When we play really fast or it goes back and forth, like it sometimes does in the MLS, it’s not necessarily his game. But I can’t say enough about how much of a team player he is and how he helps everyone.”

After his role as a substitute in the 2:4 defeat against the Portland Timbers, the 35-year-old was back in the starting line-up against Vancouver. For Reus, who played football abroad for the first time in his career after twelve years at Borussia Dortmund, it was the fifth appearance since his move to Major League Soccer.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are leaders of the Western Conference and have already qualified for the playoffs.
