Summer time 2024: Find out when the clocks will be changed

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Now that fall is upon us, it’s only a matter of weeks until daylight saving time ends this year.

Daylight saving time officially ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, and on the night of Saturday, November 2, the clocks will go back an hour as we “fall back” to standard time.

On November 3, the sun will rise about an hour earlier and it will be a little brighter in the early morning. However, it will get dark earlier in the evening.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, if we set the clocks forward one hour in the spring, we will have more daylight on summer evenings, and if we set the clocks back one hour in the fall, we will have more daylight on winter mornings.

But not all states participate. Two states – Arizona (except for the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii – do not observe daylight saving time. In addition, some overseas territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not change their clocks, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
