NW podcast “Ostwestfälle” presents first true crime event in Bielefeld

Bielefeld. On October 14, 2011, mother of three Nelli Graf (46) left the house at noon. Two days later, her bike was found, and a good four months later, her badly mutilated body. The case remains unsolved to this day. It is not the only murder of a woman in the Gütersloh district.

At the first live event of the podcast “OstwestFälle” of the “Neue Westfälische” in the Spiegelzelt in Ravensberger Park in Bielefeld, Nicole Donath, editor-in-chief of the “Haller Kreisblatt”, describes what is known and what puzzles the cases pose.

The NW’s first podcast live event:

On November 19th, from 7 p.m., these and other dark crimes from East Westphalia and Lippe will be brought to light. “There is great excitement because we have never told the audience about the real cases from OWL before.” “I am delighted that there is so much interest in our podcast – because this podcast is really something very special,” says presenter and podcast presenter Birgitt Gottwald. They will welcome the guests on stage and talk to them about current and historical criminal cases from the region.

In addition to Nicole Donath, two other guests known from the podcast are on stage: city archaeologist Johannes Glaw and criminal defense attorney Carsten Ernst. Johannes Glaw, city archaeologist, historian and author in Gütersloh, takes the audience on a journey back in time to the 18th century. He reports on gangs of robbers who once roamed the streets and knows exciting background information about historical events in OWL. Carsten Ernst represents murderers, sex offenders and other delinquents. As a criminal defense attorney, he talks about the case of a double murderer in Bielefeld who was even supposed to be permanently protected from the public.

Tickets for the Ostwestfälle event

Tickets can now be purchased at the “Neue Westfälische” offices or online at nw.de/events starting at 19.95 euros.

The podcast “Ostwestfälle” has been around since 2022. Birgitt Gottwald speaks every Thursday with editors, judges and relatives of murder victims. It’s about criminal cases from East Westphalia-Lippe: from the horror house in Höxter to the triple murder in Hille and Richard Oetker’s kidnapping in Bielefeld.
