Bristol: Murder investigation launched after man stabbed to death on busy road | UK news

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Bristol on Friday evening.

The victim, whose name was not released, was attacked by a man on the busy Stapleton Road at around 5:45 p.m.

Police officers began first aid before paramedics arrived at the scene. He was then taken to Southmead Hospital where he was pronounced dead later that evening.

The victim has yet to be officially identified, but police would like to inform all of his family members as soon as possible.

Search teams and police helicopters combed the east Bristol on Friday evening to find the perpetrator.

A man was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime and is in custody. However, attempts to arrest him are ongoing.

“We have already reviewed a large amount of CCTV footage to further our understanding of what happened and these efforts will continue today,” said Bristol Commander Superintendent Mark Runacres.

Parts of the road are still closed and police said they would maintain an “increased presence” in the area, “not because we are aware of any increased danger, but because we want to make sure you can contact us with any concerns you may have.”
