Windows 11 Snipping Tool – Storage location for screenshots and videos can be changed

Windows 11 Snipping Tool – Storage location for screenshots and videos can be changed

It is often the case that you have your own folder in which you save your screenshots or recorded videos. Up until now, the Snipping Tool has saved these permanently in Pictures\Screenshots or Videos\Screen Recordings. But that can now be changed.

Yesterday, Microsoft briefly announced that in addition to the Insider Updates, the Snipping Tool (still runs in the store as “Cut and Sketch”) updated and it is distributed there via the updates in the Microsoft Store. But this also works without being an insider.

In the settings you have the option to change the storage location for the screenshots and also for the recorded videos. Actually, a setting that should theoretically be part of the basic equipment. But hey, we know Microsoft. First get out there and wait.

Install Snipping Tool manually

  • Visit store.rg-adguard.net and from left to right
  • URL (Link) | | Quick | Check mark
  • Microsoft.ScreenSketch_2022.2408.13.0 (or higher) .msixbundle download.
    • The package is so large because the app is available in all languages.
    • The Snipping Tool is only suitable for Windows 11

Double-click on the *.msixbundle and let it update. After starting, you can then change the respective storage location in the settings.

Thanks to Holger for the tip. I just didn’t get around to it sooner.
